GLISC Meeting – November 26, 2009

Good Afternoon GLISC Members and Friends,

 Once again, thank you to Aspa Delis from Youth Employment Service for extending our use of the Youth Employment Services Training Room for this Thursday’s GLISC meeting.  Unfortunately, Mike Allsop from Advanced Solar Solutions is unable to give his presentation as previously scheduled – however, we are very happy that Brian Anderson from the Data Group of Companies will be hosting our meeting and showcasing his business.  Remember, this is a great opportunity to learn more about the Data Group so that you are armed with this knowledge for potential referrals.  

We will also be having a special guest speaker.  Dimitru Olariu from Industry Canada be joining us.  Many of you have expressed interest in learning more about Intellectual Property, and Mr. Olariu has kindly accepted our invitation to address our group. 

Just a reminder – we are going to be making a donation to the Unemployed Help Centre Food Bank this holiday season on behalf of GLISC and its member companies.  Please try and make it a priority to bring any non-perishable food items that you may be able to spare to our next two GLISC meetings before we break for the holidays (November 26 & December 10).  Please also let the companies you represent know about this food drive – so that your employees/co-workers can also get involved.  This winter is hitting many people in our community particularly hard – hopefully, our group can help ease a little bit of this burden for even just a few families.

GLISC Board of Directors

As was previously stated, GLISC has filed incorporation papers to be recognized as a registered Not for Profit organization.  We would like to thank everyone who attended the meeting to nominate and elect the Board of Directors.  It was great to see so many of you are invested in moving forward with this organization.

GLISC Meeting – November 12, 2009

Good Morning GLISC Members and Friends,

Steve Paton from Electra-Supply Company will be hosting our meeting and showcasing their business. Remember, this is a great opportunity to learn more about Electra-Supply so that you are armed with this knowledge for potential referrals.

We will also be having a special guest speaker. Vladimir Franjo from the NRC – IRAP program will be joining us. Many of you have expressed interest in learning more about IRAP, and Mr. Franjo has kindly accepted our invitation to address our group.

Also, we would like to make a donation to the Unemployed Help Centre Food Bank this holiday season on behalf of GLISC and its member companies. Featured GLISC Member – Mike Kramer, General Manager/Con-Syst-Int Group Inc.

Mike Kramer, CET, is the General Manager at Con-Syst-Int (Controls Systems International) Group Inc.  Con-Syst-Int Group Inc. was established in 1989 and is one of the original Electrical controls Design / Build companies from the Great Lakes Area (Automation Alley), which started this industry. Rick Baxter, Account Executive at Empire Communications has graciously offered to host our next GLISC meeting (Thursday August 20, 2009 – 9:00 am) at the Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce, located at:

August 6th – Meeting Update

Good Morning All,

Brian Masse’s office contacted me this morning; regretfully, he will be unable attend our August 6^th meeting as he has to be in Ottawa for the Nortel hearing.  He will, however be joining us for a meeting in September.  I have heard from many of our members that everyone is very interested in hearing Aspa’s presentation, so I look forward to seeing you all next Thursday.

GLISC Meeting – Thursday August 6, 2009

Good Morning GLISC Members and Friends,

Aspa Delis, from St. Clair College – Youth Employment Services has graciously offered to host our next GLISC meeting (Thursday August 6th, 2009 – 8:30am) at their facility, located at: 547 Victoria Ave. Windsor, Ontario 519-253-4464 Aspa will be giving a presentation about Youth Employment Services, as well as explaining subsidies available for hiring/training a young person. I am sure that we are all looking forward to learning more about Youth Employment Services, in order to more effectively refer potential partner organizations to Aspa. Please RSVP to me, Pamela Breault no later than end of business Tuesday Aug. 4th, 2009 – so that Aspa will be able to prepare accordingly.

Aspa sent me the following note (in the event you have a difficult time finding their facility):

 “…547 Victoria Ave (one way street that you can catch from Park or University, heading towards Wyandotte). We have parking next to our building – the driveway is actually just before the building itself. We are on the opposite side of the street from the YMCA.”
